How we pin the map: Exhibits show the venue's exact address — so you can plan a visit while the show is up. Galleries and museums that opt in (Settings → "Show our exact address publicly") also pin exact — appropriate for public storefronts. Artists and individual collectors always show approximate locations only — ZIP-code coords and photo metadata, never home or studio addresses.
why i built this
I'm a painter, and I kept thinking there should be an easy way to see what artists near me are actually making. So I built painttwits — swipe through real art from your area, and when something stops you, reach the person who made it.

Artists put up a few pictures. Collectors look at them. If they like something, they get in touch. Other collectors leave reviews.
The software, hosting, subdomain, and email-to-gallery are free. When your work sells through painttwits, we take 2% so we can keep the lights on.
how it works
Swipe through artwork. Bump up what you like, bump down what you don't. This affects what others see first.
Swipe right to save. If you're logged in, the artist gets a notification - a virtual handshake.

location & privacy
We help local collectors find local artists. To do this, we use ZIP codes and photo metadata (EXIF GPS) to place artwork on the map.
We never show exact addresses. All locations are fuzzy approximations - general areas within a few miles. Your precise location stays private.
